What is a Word Search?
A word search (also known as a word find or word seek) is a puzzle consisting of a grid of letters in which a list of hidden words must be found. Words can be hidden horizontally, vertically, diagonally, and in both forward and backward directions — making the puzzle much trickier than it first appears. Word searches are popular educational and recreational puzzles used in schools, puzzle books, and newspapers worldwide.
This generator creates a fresh, unique puzzle every time you click New Puzzle. Choose from topics including Animals, Countries, Science, Space, Food, and Sports. The grid is 15×15 and each puzzle contains 10 hidden words. Click and drag (or tap and swipe on mobile) to highlight a word — it will lock in if your selection is correct.
How to Play
- Select a topic from the topic buttons above.
- Click 🔄 New Puzzle to generate a fresh puzzle.
- Click (or touch) the first letter of a word and drag to the last letter to select it.
- If the selection matches a hidden word, it will turn highlighted and be crossed off the list.
- Find all words to complete the puzzle. Use 💡 Reveal All to show all answers.
