About Morse Code
Morse code is a method of encoding text characters as sequences of two signal types: dots (short signals, represented as ·) and dashes (longer signals, represented as −). It was developed in the 1830s by Samuel Morse and Alfred Vail for telegraph communication and became one of the first digital encoding systems. Each letter and digit has a unique sequence, and words are separated by longer gaps.
In this tool, dots are shown as · and dashes as −. Letters within a word are separated by spaces, and words are separated by /. The audio playback uses the standard timing: a dot is one unit, a dash is three units, and the gap between letters is three units. Click ▶ Play to hear your Morse code in real time.
