About This GST Calculator

GST (Goods and Services Tax) is a consumption tax applied in many countries including Australia (10%), New Zealand (15%), Canada (5% federal), Singapore (9%), and India (5โ€“28% depending on goods). This calculator handles both directions: adding GST to a pre-tax price to find the GST-inclusive total, and removing GST (also called reverse GST or GST extraction) from an already-inclusive price to find the original amount and the GST component.

To add GST: multiply the pre-tax price by (1 + rate/100). For example, $100 + 10% GST = $110. To remove GST from an inclusive price: divide by (1 + rate/100). For example, $110 รท 1.1 = $100 original, $10 GST. Use the country preset buttons to quickly load a rate, or type any custom rate. All three result cards are clickable to copy the value to your clipboard.

How to Use

  1. Choose โž• Add GST if your price excludes tax, or โž– Remove GST if your price already includes it.
  2. Select a country preset or choose a rate using the quick buttons, or type a custom rate.
  3. Enter your amount โ€” results update instantly.
  4. Click any result card to copy that value to your clipboard.

Frequently Asked Questions

To extract GST from a price that already includes it, divide the total by (1 + GST rate). At 10%: Original = Total รท 1.10, and GST = Total โˆ’ Original. For example, a $220 GST-inclusive item: $220 รท 1.10 = $200 original, $20 GST. Switch the calculator to โž– Remove GST mode to do this automatically.

Australia: 10% (applied to most goods and services). New Zealand: 15%. Canada: 5% federal GST, though most provinces also levy HST (Harmonised Sales Tax) on top โ€” Ontario is 13% combined, for example. Singapore: 9%. India: GST rates vary by product category from 0% to 28%, with 5%, 12%, 18% and 28% being the standard slabs.
